Atlanta Local Newspaper
10:35 AM ET 03.01 | Perhaps you heard Paul Hewitt say last week he hasn't read the ol' AJC since 2005. Perhaps you heard him mention he stopped because "our columnist here" -- he meant me, I believe it's safe to say -- declared the 2004-2005 Jackets underachievers. And he's correct. I did. I believed then -- and believe still -- that a Tech team returning six of its top eight players from a run to the NCAA championship game (and that had added freshmen Anthony Morrow, Jeremis Smith and Ra'Sean Dickey) should have done better than 20-12 overall and 8-8 in the ACC. It should have done better than to enter the the NCAA tournament as a No. 5 seed and then lose by 22 points in Round 2 to No. 4 seed Louisville.
Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The Atlanta Journal Constitution: Where it Began The Atlanta Journal Constitution was not always simply one daily newspaper. There was a time when it was two daily newspapers called the Atlanta Journal and the Atlanta Constitution, both of which have been around for over a hundred years. However since the 1950’s, both of these longtime rivals had been under common ownership, and thus it was no surprise when in 2001 they merged to form a single paper now known as the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Together, these two papers have won nine Pulitzer Prizes and have had various famous journalists working for them at different times. Still, in the 80’s the Journal began to decline, and eventually got to the point where a merger became the only likely option to save the Journal and make both of the two famous newspapers all the stronger under a single masthead. The move appears to have worked, with the Atlanta Journal Constitution stronger than ever before and without a doubt the definitive newspaper for the greater Atlanta region.
