Launched in 1999 the 19th Century Masterfile, then known as "Poole's Plus," has grown to include over seventy (70) seminal as well as lesser known contemporary indexes to English-language publishing prior to 1930. Access is by genre:

  • Multi-title Periodical Indexes (e.g., Poole's, Legal, Religion, Scientific Papers, etc.)
  • Book Indexes
  • Newspaper Indexes
  • Complete Individual Periodical Indexes (e.g., Harper's, Atlantic Monthly, etc.)
  • US Patents; Hansard's; US and UK Historical Government Documents
The19th Century Masterfile is populated with full text links allowing researchers to explore the materials via the indexes and follow links to full text editions in the public as well as commercial information sites, including JSTOR, American Periodical Series, Hein Online, Accessible Archives and additional public sites. With 19th Century Masterfile, researchers have a single resource for exploring pre-1930 literature, and linking to full text, where available.
